The Later Alligator Program (LAP) offers a diverse range of enjoyable activities, available Monday through Thursday from school dismissal until 5:30 p.m. Under the supervision of qualified teachers and coaches, boys have the opportunity to pursue different interests, stay physically active, and work on school assignments.
LAP has three sessions: Fall, Winter, and Spring. Activity offerings change seasonally. Information on the upcoming season is distributed to parents via e-mail as well as posted on this web page several months in advance. Activities meet once a week for the fall, winter, or spring season, allowing for a custom mixture of activities for a boy’s interests throughout the school year. Most after-school activities require additional tuition, and students who are currently receiving financial aid may seek funds towards them.
2020 -2021 Virtual LAP
The 2020-21 school year will be unique to other years in that the program will be virtual.
Kindergator Session (3:00 - 3:45/4:00 p.m.) For kindergarten boys, the virtual LAP programs will begin at 3:00 p.m., approximately one hour after kindergarten dismissal. This will give the boys time to go home, grab a snack, and get settled before rejoining their friends and classmates for the virtual classes via Zoom. The 3:00 p.m. sessions are only open to kindergarten boys and will last 45 minutes to an hour.
Junior School LAP (3:45 - 4:45/5:00 p.m.) For boys in grades I - III, the virtual LAP programs will begin at 3:45 p.m., approximately one hour after school dismissal. This will give the boys time to go home, grab a snack, and get settled before rejoining their friends and classmates for the virtual classes via Zoom. Each session will last 45 minutes to an hour. Kindergarten boys may also join these classes.
Middle/Upper School Lap (4:15 - 5:00/5:15 p.m.)
For Middle and Upper School boys, the virtual LAP program will begin at 4:15 p.m., approximately 45 minutes after school dismissal. This will give the boys time to go home, grab a snack, and get settled before rejoining their friends and classmates for the virtual classes via Zoom. Each session will last 45 minutes to an hour.
On-Site Childcare
For boys who need childcare at school, there will be a supervised transition time after school dismissal while the other boys make their way home. During this transition time, the boys can have a snack, do private activities, and play quiet games in their classrooms before their virtual programs begin. Kindergarten boys will participate in their 3:00 p.m. programs from inside their classrooms. They will then be escorted to the Medium Gym, where all other virtual classes will take place. Desks are placed six feet apart and all social distancing protocols will be followed as they would be during the regular school day. The latest pickup time will be 5:30 p.m., but families are encouraged to pick up their boys as soon as possible.
Due to space constraints, the on-site option is only for families that have no other childcare alternatives. There will be a small fee associated with the on-site scenario.
