St. Bernard's is pleased to welcome six new members of the faculty staff for the 2025-2026 school year. We wish them a wonderful year.
Hana Alberts Old Boys Director
Hana Alberts is our new director of Old Boys. She joined the development office after almost 20 years as an editor and a writer. Her work has appeared in publications from the Wall Street Journal to Condé Nast Traveler. A native New Yorker and Chapin alumna, Ms. Alberts studied the history of science at Harvard and graduated summa cum laude.
Julie Choi Grade III Associate Teacher
Julie Choi earned her bachelor’s degree in history at NYU and completed her master’s degree in education and a childhood education certification at Hunter College. Before joining St. Bernard’s, Ms. Choi taught in Korea (teaching all subjects in English), at a British International School, and at Hunter College Elementary School.
Katy Collins Latin Teacher
Katy Collins brings over ten years of teaching experience. She has worked at several schools, including, most recently, Buckley Country Day School and The Green Vale School. Katy earned a bachelor’s degree from Hunter College in Latin and Greek languages and English literature. She then earned a master’s in Greek and Latin languages from the CUNY Graduate Center.
Marlee Hale Junior School Associate Teacher
Marlee Hale joined Grade III as an associate teacher. She started her teaching career in Baltimore as a second grade teacher and is excited to be in a new city and new school. Ms. Hale earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Towson University.
Tobias Philip Latin Teacher
Tobias Philip graduated with high honors in Greek and Latin from Swarthmore College and is now a doctoral candidate in Classics at Rutgers University. He comes to St. Bernard’s from Heidelberg, Germany, where he completed a Fulbright fellowship researching ancient philosophical criticisms of spectacles.
Vivienne von Wiederhold Junior School Art Teacher
Vivienne von Wiederhold has been teaching for 15 years. She has worked at The Blue Rock School in West Nyack, Newcomer High School in San Francisco, and the American Overseas School of Rome. In addition to teaching, she has worked with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group as a project manager and personal assistant to the CEO. She earned her Bachelor of Science from Valparaiso University and holds New York and California teaching certifications in visual arts and biology.
