The Dragon School Exchange Program

St. Bernard’s participates in a student exchange program with the Dragon School in Oxford, England.
Ten boys, along with three teachers, visited New York last week.  The boys stayed with nine families of Grade VII boys.  These same boys will then travel to Oxford in June for a reciprocal visit.

The Dragon School students saw just about every New York site, from Grand Central to the Freedom Tower.  A trip to Times Square to see the Broadway show, Come From Away, was another highpoint.  One day was focused on the New York immigrant experience and featured a trip to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, followed by the Tenement Museum.  Other highlights mentioned by the boys were Dunkin Donuts and ‘everything’ bagels.

Over the weekend, Elizabeth and Chris Davis ’79 kindly invited the boys to the country to pick apples and make apple cider.  Many thanks to the generous families who opened up their homes to the Dragon students and their teachers.  The Dragon School boys and their teachers made clear their genuine appreciation of the St. Bernard’s community’s hospitality.  St. Bernard’s has enjoyed the visit and our boys are certainly looking forward to seeing their English friends in the summer.
