Last Thursday the ninth graders took some time out of their busy school day to devote several hours to community service.
Together with Madame de Haugoubart and Mr. Bowcock, the boys volunteered for New York Cares. This well-known charity organizes a big coat drive every year for New Yorkers who do not have warm coats for the winter. The ninth graders went to a drop-off point on the West Side where they sorted more than two hundred coats of all types: coats for toddlers, for young people, and for all sizes of men and women. The coats will be distributed this week. It was a bitterly cold day when the ninth graders went to volunteer, so the weather brought home to them the importance of what they were doing. Keep warm, New York!
