Class of 1966, 50th Year Reunion

by Kate Fiscus, Director of Old Boys

St. Bernard’s was delighted to welcome back members from the class of 1966 to celebrate their 50th year reunion.  Nine Old Boys returned on Friday, September 23, for a cocktail reception and tour of the school.  Classmates in attendance were Robert Bartle, Jonathan Blum, Stephen Blum, Jeremy Koch, John Leggett, Jere Patterson, David Weller, George Whipple, and Leo F.J. Wilking.

Headmaster Stuart Johnson provided school updates and shared a letter from David Westcott addressed to the class of 1966.  Mr. Westcott wrote, “In fact, I am heart-broken not to be with you.  We would have lots to say to one another, candor being easier at our present ages.  Happily you are spared the sight of a doddering, dribbling, demented octogenarian, punctuating his pronouncements with alarming waves of his wine glass.  Please remember me as that saintly French teacher who never raised his voice and who smiled benignly at every savaging of a beautiful language.”  The letter set the tone for an evening of laughter and remembrance lasting long into the evening.  Thank you for a great time – we hope to see you soon!
