Giving Back: Packing Lunches for the New York Common Pantry

This week, boys from grades V and VI joined parent and faculty volunteers to make brown bag lunches for the New York Common Pantry.  The boys worked wonderfully well together to make sandwiches and bagged lunches for those less fortunate.  Each lunch contained a sandwich, granola bar, an apple, packets of mustard and mayonnaise, and a juice box.  After making the meals, boys wrote personal notes to include with some of the lunches.  All of the bagged lunches were boxed up and delivered to the New York Common Pantry before 9:00 a.m., when they were distributed.  The boys made over 250 lunches and had a fabulous time!

Students from each grade will have the opportunity to volunteer for the Community Service Breakfast and Sandwich Drive this year.  Ms. Oshins, the community service coordinator, will contact parents ahead of time with dates.  The Community Service Breakfast Sandwich Drive calendar is also available on the website.

St. B’s wishes to thank the P.A. community service committee, Ms. Oshins, and all of the parent and faculty volunteers who helped make this event a success!
