French Class at the Albertine

Yesterday Madame Boyer-Robert took the boys in V Brady to Albertine, the French bookstore that opened in the fall near St. Bernard’s School inside the beautiful Payne Whitney mansion.  (The boys in V Clavel visited the bookstore in February.)  The staff at Albertine had a tour and book reading planned for them.  In preparation, Madame Boyer-Robert taught them French vocabulary words for architecture and decoration and trivia about the city of Paris, which was the subject of the book read to them.  While listening to the story, many boys noticed the beautiful blue and gold ceiling hand painted with constellations.  At one point the storyteller had them singing “Paris est un escargot.”  The highlight for Madame Boyer-Robert was seeing her students excited about French books.  She returned to school with four new books for St. Bernard’s library.
