Backpack Collection

With the first week of school now in full swing, the community service committee launched its annual three-day drive to collect backpacks and school supplies to benefit the Coalition for the Homeless.  Last year over 20,000 children slept in homeless shelters in New York City and the Coalition has been able to provide them with thousands of backpacks since the drive’s inception in 2008.  Two days into the St. Bernard’s effort, several boys (and one staff member—thank you Ms. Nealy!) have stepped up to bring in an eclectic mix of backpacks filled with pencils, binders, rulers, and folders for the less fortunate.  There is one more day to go—keep the supplies coming!

Many thanks to Ms. Oshins and the community service committee (Carrie A., Evie B., Reemah S., and Tracy S.) for organizing the collection for this very important cause.
