Ninth Grade's Mannequin Art Installation

A superhero did not fly, crash, and get stuck in St. Bernard’s art room wall.  The figure dressed in St. Bernard’s gym attire with half of its body on either side of the wall above the art room’s doorway is one of four packing tape mannequins made by the ninth grade in the style of street artist Mark Jenkins.  Almost as hard to believe as the superhero in the wall, the boy reading a book in the library at 5 p.m. on a Friday is also a mannequin; and so are the spectator in the gym watching an empty court and the Upper School Head Bob Miness look-a-like taking a nap on the art room counter.  Like the artist Mark Jenkins, the ninth graders created and placed their site specific figures with the purpose to break up one’s everyday pattern.  The boys did a great job.  Those strolling into the art room these days wear a face that speaks, “What on Earth?”
