St. B’s Buddies Make Lunches for New York Common Pantry

by Rebecca Oshins, Community Service Faculty Co-chair

On December 10, 2013, bright and early at 7: 30 a.m., the cafeteria was filled with second and eighth grade “buddies” who have been pen pals for over a year.  The boys came together to make sandwiches for the New York Common Pantry.  For thirty hectic minutes the boys along with many helpers (mothers, fathers, teachers, and chefs) put together ham and cheese sandwiches and loaded them into brown lunch bags with apples, clementines, granola bars, and juice boxes.  Together they made 262 full lunches.  It was joyous to see families and buddies work together to create meals for the homeless.

We would like to thank the Parent Association for its generous donation of sandwich materials and the boys and families who brought food and donated their time.
