Math Competition

In November, 70 students from grades six through eight participated in the AMC 8 Problem Solving Competition, which is similar to a track meet, only with mental rather than physical prowess on trial. Winners demonstrate not only an understanding of mathematics, but also the ability to size up and solve problems quickly and accurately. Schools throughout the country participate in the competition, which is sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America.
