Medieval Times

On Tuesday, May 10 the entire fourth grade took a class trip back in time by attending an authentic medieval tournament. We journeyed to an 11th century castle situated in the rolling hills of New Jersey and joined a boisterous group of serfs, wenches, and knights at Medieval Times. We marveled at the spectacular horsemanship, the amazing swordplay, and the jousting tournament between six brave knights of the realm. We devoured a feast fit for a king with our bare hands (tableware had not yet been invented). We visited the castle torture chamber where the teachers and perhaps some of the chaperone parents got some pointers on how to encourage discipline! Purchases made at ye olde gift shop included swords, shields, and battle axes. The ride back to Manhattan and modern times proved interesting!
