The Red Bag Project

The Community Service Club began the year with a collection benefiting the African Dream Academy, a school with over 900 students in Liberia.

In partnership with the Brick Church School, St. Bernard’s collected toys, school supplies, and toiletries for children of all ages.  A red bag was marked with a specific child’s name and age.  St. B’s committed to creating 100 of these bags in one week, an ambitious goal indeed!

Families were incredibly generous and the community service club’s target was met.  Yesterday afternoon, the boys used one of the science labs to sort through the donations and organize them into the red bags.  Under the guidance of faculty members Ms. Sobers and Ms. Gjelaj, the team turned the room into an operation that rivaled an Amazon distribution center.

All 100 bags have now been shipped and will be handed out at Christmas.  We hope the red bags bring a smile to the faces of the African Dream Academy students.  To learn more about the school, please click here.  Kudos to the boys of the Community Service Club on their first project of the year.
