Maureen Sherry Visit

Maureen Sherry, mother, author, and former Wall Street executive, spoke to the Middle School on May 23rd about her new book Walls Within Walls and the process of getting it published.  The boys were fascinated as Ms. Sherry described how she came up with the idea for her book—an adventure story about three children who discover a hidden puzzle in their apartment that leads them to several New York City landmarks.  If they can solve the mystery, a lost fortune is theirs.  Ms. Sherry said her inspiration came on a St. Bernard’s trip when she realized that she wanted to learn more about the history of the many attractions we all pass by daily.  (Our own Mr. Demeny has a cameo in the story.)  The boys, who included many aspiring authors, were fascinated by a slide show depicting the book in its first iteration (over 600 pages long!), to the original illustrations, to the final product.  Her talk was entertaining—and enlightening.  Thank you, Ms. Sherry.
