St. Bernard’s School is a K-9 independent boys’ school founded in 1904. The school, located on the Upper East Side, serves a diverse community of approximately 385 students and 100 employees.

The school is seeking a Night Cleaning Supervisor. Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, the Night Cleaning Supervisor is a 12-month, full-time working supervisor responsible for daily cleaning operations and supervision of the night cleaning staff.
Responsibilities:
Perform cleaning duties in a variety of areas, as assigned by the Director of Facilities
Supervise night cleaning staff, ensuring complete cleanliness of the school
Collaborate with the outside cleaning company’s supervisor for optimal cleaning efficiency
Be willing to respond to emergencies or other duties outside of the normal scope of work
Ensure the school building is clean, ready, and safe for school to open as scheduled
Be responsible for closing the building at night and setting the burglar alarm, once everyone has exited
Ensure the garbage area is clean at all times and assist in removing garbage from the building for pick-up
Perform building checks on days that the school is closed, including weekends and holidays, based on a rotating schedule developed by the Director of Facilities
Report any unusual or unsafe conditions to the Director of Facilities
Remove snow and ice from the sidewalk using shovels and ice melt
Assist with set-up, breakdown, and cleanup of school-wide events, including after-hours
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities
Physical Activities/Qualifications:
Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, and stairs
Must be able to work in high and low temperatures for extended periods of time
Must be able to work in noisy or small environments
Must be able to turn, twist, crawl, or maneuver into different positions to satisfy certain job requirements
Prior experience supervising a cleaning crew
Ability to operate all equipment in a safe manner
Able to work well alone or with others in a team environment, ensuring work is completed in a timely manner
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with or without assistance
Display a pleasant and professional attitude at all times
Must possess a high degree of integrity
Ability to speak Spanish is desirable, but not required

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly range for this position is $30.00 to $32.00.
