Admissions Process

The admissions directors welcome inquiries throughout the year.  For the 2017-2018 school year, kindergarten applications are now closed.  If you are applying for any grade above kindergarten, please call the admissions office.  We have no application fee.

Please request that written reports and records be sent to St. Bernard's from the boy's current school.  All records are confidential.  ISAAGNY member schools will submit the ISAAGNY Information Sheet to us for each applicant.  If his school is not an ISAAGNY member, please download the form below and have the current school e-mail the completed form to admissions@stbernards.org.

Parents interested in applying for upper grades should call the admissions office at (212) 289-2878.  Applications are considered on a rolling basis if space is available.  At the time the application for admission is made, the school at which the applicant is enrolled will be asked to send the applicant's transcript to the admissions office.  Applicants for grades I through IV must submit test results (ECAA) from the Educational Records Bureau (ERB).  Applicants for grades V and above must submit ERB (ISEE) test results.

The school bases admission on what it believes to be the best interest of each candidate.  St. Bernard’s does not discriminate against applicants on the basis of race, religion, color, national, or ethnic origin.  The school is an active member of the National Association of Independent Schools.

St. Bernard's, a member of the Independent School Admissions Association of Greater New York, follows its practices and calender.  The school also follows the Principles of Good Practice for Admissions to Independent Schools adopted by the National Association of Independent Schools.
For the academic year, 2017-2018, St. Bernard's will not require nor accept any standardized test results for kindergarten applicants.
Siblings and Legacies
St. Bernard’s gives early notification to all siblings and legacies.  We adhere to the early notification dates mandated by the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY).   If you are interested in early admission, please contact the admissions office no later than December 1.
