The board is responsible for establishing the overall strategic direction and mission of the school, hiring and ongoing evaluation of the Head of School, and financial stewardship, including oversight of the school’s capital assets, endowment, and annual operating budget. The trustees also actively participate in the school’s fundraising activities.
The Head of School and trustees are available to members of the St. Bernard’s community. The school’s parents and alumni are closely involved, both through membership on the board and through the ex-officio seats of the president of the Parents Association and the president(s) of the Old Boys Council. In addition, the Head of School attends all meetings of the Parents Association, and the board president attends the annual meeting, at which he gives a report. All trustees are also invited to all of the Parents Association meetings.
