Kindergarten Trip to MoMA

This week kindergarten boys went on their first St. Bernard’s field trip to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) where they saw paintings they have studied in the classroom.  They sat in front of Van Gogh’s “Starry Night,” squealed in delight upon seeing Picasso’s “Musicians” (and impressively recognized it was from his cubist period), and earnestly studied Monet’s huge painting “Water Lilies,” which took up the entire length of a room.  The boys in K North talked about jazz music and wiggled to Mondrian’s “Broadway Boogie Woogie.”  And the boys in K South had the best time mimicking the direction and flow of lines in Jackson Pollack’s paintings.  They danced, waved their arms, and kicked their legs.  Each boy had a unique vision of how the paint would move if it came alive.  Thanks to MoMA’s wonderful tour guides, who provided such a fun and educational time for our boys!
