Lending a Helping Hand in Central Park

Every student in the Junior School had the opportunity to lend a helping hand shortly before the Thanksgiving break.  Boys in Kindergarten through third grade raked leaves in Central Park with volunteers from the Keeping it Green organization.

This was the third year St. B’s volunteered to work with Central Park Conservancy’s Keeping it Green department, however, this was the first year that all of the grades in the Junior School were invited to participate.  Boys raked and collected leaves and quickly produced giant piles of bagged leaves.  First graders remembered how to use the tools they had been introduced to last year, and they were amazed by how many more bags of leaves they were able to collect this year.  Second graders had a great time working together in teams and were already looking forward to raking leaves again next year.  Everyone had fun working together and caring for the beautiful park we are lucky to have close by.

Many thanks to the community service committee, especially Ms. McDonald, for organizing.  We appreciate Central Park Conservancy and all of the volunteers who worked with us last week and those who work hard every day to maintain Central Park.
