St. B’s Cross Country Completes a Strong Season

by Coach Eric Hill
The 2018 St. Bernard’s cross country team worked hard and did well throughout the season.  Fifteen boys participated on the junior varsity team, and twelve boys participated on the varsity team.

The team competed in six meets, all held on the famous Van Cortlandt Park course at a distance of 1.5 miles.  On average there were 200 runners in each race from twenty schools.  In the championship meet, held on October 31, medals were awarded to the top fifty finishers, and four St. Bernard’s boys earned medals.  Anderson P. placed 6th in 10:09; Oliver B. placed 12th in 10:18; Riley S. placed 21st in 10:37; and Griffin M. placed 43rd in 11:32.  We had a big contingent of St. B’s parents cheering us on throughout the season and the most ever at the championship meet.  The future is bright for St. Bernard’s cross country team.
