New Computers School-wide

St. Bernard’s technology department embarked on a massive hardware and software upgrade over the summer.  All of the computers throughout the school (over one hundred and fifty) were replaced.

Over one hundred iPads were added to the inventory, and the Parents Association purchased over one hundred and twenty new Chromebooks for Upper School students to use this year.  Apple TVs were installed in almost every classroom, and a 55-inch touchscreen monitor was installed in the carpentry room.  The Parents Association purchased a mobile 76-inch touchscreen monitor that may be used for classes and meetings throughout the school.  It has already been put to good use.  Thanks to the Parents Association, both Kindergarten rooms have new SMARTboards this year.  Later in the year Kindergarten boys will have the chance to draw in three dimensions with new 3D pens.  With the help of the maintenance department, speakers were replaced throughout the school.  There is even a speaker in the elevator.

Two Old Boys, Djimon Gibson ’12 and Sebi Herrera ’13, worked with the technology team full-time over the summer.  They were especially helpful when packing up all of the used computers, which were donated to the African Dream Academy of Liberia and the Nathan Ebanks Foundation of Jamaica.  Thanks to the hard work of the technology and the maintenance departments, St. B’s students, teachers, and administrators have started off the year without a glitch.
