Summer Improvements at St. B’s

As boys burst through the front doors on the first day, they may have noticed some of the many improvements that happened throughout the school building over the summer.

Some lucky second grade boys were treated to new desks, all Upper School boys found new chairs in their classrooms, and everyone at the all-school assembly enjoyed the new folding chairs.  Most of the hallways and classrooms were freshly painted, as they are each summer.  The individual work stations in the library were improved and new SMART Boards were replaced throughout the school.  3,200 square feet of new carpeting was installed on the third and seventh floors.  New floor tiles were installed in the kitchen and on the sixth floor, and many wooden floors throughout the building were stripped, sanded, and refinished.  Speaking of flooring, the floors in all three gyms were sanded and refinished last summer.  That’s over 10,500 square feet of flooring!  The medium gym received new wall padding.  New lighting and bench padding were installed in the big gym, and new logos and lines were painted on the gym floors.  The boys enjoyed seeing a time-lapse video of the big gym floor being refinished during the first all-school assembly last Friday.

All of this work, and much more, was completed by the amazing St. B’s maintenance team and a few others who helped over the summer months.  It is incredible how much these eleven people accomplished in such a short time.  Every room in the school received their attention and care.  Thanks to Greg Jensen and his team, St. B’s students, teachers, and coaches have had a wonderful start to the school year!

Special thanks to Greg Jensen and Mr. Barrientos for creating and sharing the video.
