Good Heart Community Interviews

The Good Heart Program begins with a unit on “Community.” The boys talk about the different communities that they are a part of, including St. Bernard’s.  In an effort to get to know everyone in our school community, fourth-grade students met with various members of the staff whom they might not know well.

The boys set up interviews and came prepared with a list of hard-hitting questions.  What do you do? What is your favorite thing to eat for lunch? What do you like to do on the weekends?  The boys came up with the questions on their own, and some were very thought-provoking.  A boy asked our crafts teacher, “In art, do we learn more from joy or from sadness?”

The boys are now working on writing reports about their subjects which will be presented to their classmates and then hung on the wall on the fourth floor.   The St. Bernard’s community is a close-knit one and interactions like these make the boys feel even more connected to the fabric of our school.
