Perge Sed Loquere: Mothers of Junior Old Boys Gather at the River Club

by Charlotte Kingham, mother of William Kingham ’14
Conversation flowed freely at the River Club on Monday, April 29, at the annual gathering of St. Bernard’s Mothers of Junior Old Boys. Amid canapés and cocktails, mothers of St. Bernard’s graduates from the preceding eight years enjoyed conversation, camaraderie and, no doubt, the occasional reminiscence.

The evening included an informative and lively update on the school community by Headmaster Stuart Johnson, followed by a presentation by economist Nancy Lazar (mother of Adam Zachar ’09) on “The Importance of Passion in Your Career.” Ms. Lazar incorporated a discussion of current economic trends in her presentation, providing additional food for thought for her listeners.

The enthusiastic crowd of more than eighty guests was a testament to both the popularity of this annual event and the strong bonds of the St. Bernard’s community. As guests continued to mingle and converse well past the evening’s scheduled conclusion, it was clear that St. Bernard’s parents share an abiding affection for the school—and each other—long after their sons have graduated.
