St. B’s Celebrates 110 Years

On June 2, 2015, the St. Bernard’s community celebrated the school’s 110th year anniversary with a festive party at the Central Park Zoo.  Neither rain clouds nor winds diverted a crowd of about 1,000 people, which included current and past families, Old Boys, faculty, staff, trustees, and many friends.  The jazz band played, the sea lions performed, and the party-goers partied on.

Display boards highlighting photographs from St. Bernard’s history set the party’s tone at the front entrance.  Continuing inside and under a great tent, delicious, themed hors d’oeuvre--including the St. Bernard-shaped salmon and the spicy Chinese chicken with Shakespeare fortunes inside--charmed as much as they enticed.  The party’s signature basil cocktail, appropriately named after the school’s motto, Perge Sed Cautini, was also a crowd pleaser.

The celebration’s co-chairs Anna C., Vicki F., Simone M., and Burwell S. were thoughtful about every detail.  To everyone’s delight, the frequent reaction was “That is so St. Bernard’s.”  Thanks to them and to the party’s committee members, school spirit reached new heights.  Thanks also go to Elizabeth K, Andrea V., and Alexandra W. for taking photographs.
